Over the last year, we have been getting a little bit baby daft as three members of The Square Peg welcomed their wee bundles of joy into the world, the most recent of which made her appearance just a few weeks ago, so our gift giving minds have been in overdrive. Thankfully with our well-stocked toy shop and wide range of greetings cards we have more than enough gift ideas for our little Peggies that we would like to share with you.
You can’t have a baby gifts blog without mentioning Jellycat. They are the softest, snuggliest and we want them for ourselves, never mind the baby! For our most recent future employee, Cleo, we put together a bunny and floral themed hamper and opted for the Jellycat Bashful Bunny Pull Beige. Not only is it super cute, but it also plays a soothing lullaby when pulled down and her daddy couldn’t stop playing with it any time he was in! Some of our other favourites include the octopuses, Oddell and Inky – their tentacles are great for little ones to wrap around their fingers. Jellycat also does a fantastic range of books, such as I Know A Monkey and Puppy Makes Mischief which you can pair with the matching toys for a really lovely present.
Here at The Square Peg we always try to be as ethically minded as possible – recycled packaging for wrapping our online orders and biodegradable coffee cups and packaging in the sandwich bar wherever possible. Therefore, we absolutely love the bamboo crockery sets from Sass & Belle. Some are boxed sets like Sloth & Friends Tableware Set, others come as individual pieces so you can create your own set, The Bear Camp Range is a neutral coloured design, with wee bears toasting marshmallows over the fire and Woodland Friends is a brighter design, featuring a floral pattern with a fox, squirrel, badger and owl.
With the releases of Peter Rabbit and Christopher Robin films over the last year, they have become popular choices for baby gifts. We have a lovely range of both, including cloth books and soft toys, comforters and pull-along toys. For baby Niall last year we put together a Winnie the Pooh themed hamper (we do love a hamper), pairing the Classic Winnie the Pooh Soft Bear with some matching themed clothing from the high street and supermarket stores.
Some of our other shop favourites are the boxed socks from Shruti we even have Christmas designs available should your little person be making their arrival then. Not your baby? Then why not something noisy? Hape has a great range of wooden toys, particularly some great music makers sure to drive mum and dad mad like this Early Melodies Rhythm Set. They also have some great push and pull toys for when the wee ones are up on their feet like Hape Toys Lawnmower Push & Pull or Dancing Butterflies.
