In just a couple of weeks’ time Father’s Day will be upon us and as we know, dads are notoriously tricky to shop for, so let us offer you some inspiration. The way to most men’s hearts is through their stomach, so we thought we could offer up some suggestions for foodie fathers, and those who like to cosy up by the fire, dram in hand…

For the dad who loves a wee nip, we have a variety of gifts, and we love the Islay whisky range from LSA. Maybe we’re biased with the Isle of Islay being so close, but these hand blown Tumblers, water jugs and decanters have a lovely weight to them - and the boxed sets make for a very luxurious gift. Pair them with a bottle of one of the Islay whiskies, and your dad is sure to be impressed. Looking for a budget-friendly twist on the standard whisky gift? Try a box of Whisky Stones for a novel ice alternative or one of our whisky cocktail soaps from Scottish Fine Soaps.
If your Pop prefers Ales, then we can highly recommend another local business - Fyne Ales is a family-owned Scottish farm brewery located right here in Argyll. They create modern, ambitious and progressive beers in a wide variety of styles, drawing water from the hills and brewing in converted farm buildings. We’re sure a selection of bottled ales would be a very welcome gift indeed. Fyne Ales also welcome visitors to the brewery and offer tours 7 days a week, so if you are local enough to take your dad on a day trip we are sure he would love it!
If Tea and Coffee is more your dad’s style, then you can’t go wrong with a good mug. Hand-painted earthenware mugs by Emma Bridgewater are always popular and the boxed Blue Star Daddy Half Pint Mug would be perfect for a father of younger children. We’ve also got the popular Bohemian Stars Dad Mug by Sass and Belle, or if he is more of an espresso guy then we have this set of two ‘Coffee is Always a Good Idea’ espresso Mugs from Legami. Again, you could team this with a bag of his favourite blend and you have yourself a very thoughtful present.
For Those with a Sweet Tooth
We are very lucky to have the wonderful Sweetie Jar located directly across the square from our shop. They are a traditional, local sweet shop and offer a fantastic selection of retro favourites, handmade chocolates, Scottish tablet and American candy. They can also create brilliant hampers or sweetie selections that are ideal for gifting – and if you’re not lucky enough to be as close as us then you can also order online and have some deliciousness delivered straight to your door.
Food hampers, in general, are a great solution if you’re struggling – simply pick up a few of his favourites, mix in some new things to try and wrap it all up in a basket. It will look impressive and definitely be appreciated, as long as he doesn’t have to share!
We could go on, so if you’re still seeking further ideas then take a look at our Father’s Day collection in time for Sunday 16th June. Don’t forget to check out our Father's Day cards too!
